This is a South American Andean Native Flute. This flute is 22.5 inches (65
cm) long, plays in the key of A, and is capable of producing notes in two+
octaves. This is a 5-hole flute, with all the holes located on the front of the
instrument, and has a scale that is unique to itself. This flute's interior
bore has been lacquered with a black colored lacquer, and a natural polish of
beeswax and orange peel has been applied to the exterior of the flute to add
shine and help preserve the bamboo. The mouthpiece is a U-notch style, the same
that can be found on the South American quena, and this flute sings with a
somber and mellow voice in all registers. Lots of fun to play with a unique and
beautiful look due to all the natural speckles and spalting that can be found
around the entire length of the flute.
