Fujara A 156cm (61,5 in) / Make to order

Fujara is a traditional Slovak overtone flute with three holes, historicaly
was played by Slovak shepherds. Simple to play and make fujara remained the
same for hundreds of years, It´s origin is tracked to middle Slovakia and it´s
considered a Queen among folk instruments. This amazing instrument was added to
UNESCO as a national heritage in 2008.

Nowadays fujara is getting more attention because of its unique sound, that
can´t be compared to anything else. You can find Fujaras in orchestras and
basicaly it can be used in all music genres.
I am making fujars since 2006.I started manufacturing fujaras when I was in
high school where I studied manufacturing of musical instruments, and fell in
love with fujara and its sound.
Ideal wood for fujara is Elder, it´s tough and has a pit inside, what makes it
easier to drill. Most of my instruments are made from Elder but I also use
maple, accacia, ash.
Making a fujara takes 2-8 weeks, depending on complexity of chosen fujara. The
whole process is handmade and carefully handcrafted in my workshop. You can
choose wood, colour, varnish and decide if you want straight surface or with
natural knots.

You can choose if you want natural wood or varnished in various shades of
brown, red or gold. After the colour you can choose the surface treatment. I
offer a Hard Wax Oil or Odies Oil, both are non toxic and natural. Hard Wax Oil
after curing looks like laquer, it will stay semi-glossy to glossy and hard.
Odies Oil stays matte and „soft“ you can feell the wood surface and stucture,
which is not possible with laquer or Hard Wax Oil. Both Hard Wax Oil and Odies
Oil are moisture resistant. To protect your new fujara you will get a case.
Again, you can choose if you want linen or black waterproof case, both are
properly polstered. Cases are handmade for every fujara individualy from only
the finest materials. Also you will recieve a brief maintenance manual.

My Fujaras are carefully fine tuned for playing in band or orchestra. Original
fujara is playing major (dur) scale.
