These nifty shakers were created from repurposed boxes, given a new life as
percussion instruments! They're filled with pea gravel noisemakers and sealed
shut. The results are rugged, yet light weight shakers. The all-natural
noisemakers create a bright, crisp, and pleasing sound.
I love creating percussives out of found objects – and when I found the empty
cigar and shirt boxes, I thought they'd be perfect for the job! Slight nicks
and blemishes attest to how long they've been used as mere containers. Now,
thanks to being filled with pea gravel and permanently sealed, they are each
one-of-a-kind percussion shakers!
Very unconventional, but also very light weight, they fit nicely in the hand
and produce a crisp, dry rattle sound that can hold its own when jamming with
drums and other instruments.
• Edition: One-of-a-kind playable and collectible gourd rattles with
unconventional shapes
• Materials: Box, Brass Hinges & Clasp, Stain, Pea Gravel or Dried Legumes,
Cream Wax Finish
• Dimensions of Cigar-Box Shaker: 8” x 6” x 2”
• Dimensions of T-Shirt-Box Shaker: 3" x 3" x 3"
• Sound: Pleasant dry bright
• Material: Repurposed wood box, dried white beans, glue, sealer
