Up for your consideration is a ocarina depicting a fertility goddess. Handmade
from blackware clay with gold specks (real gold?), this unique ocarina features
a two finger holes on top, one wedge hole underneath, and mouthpiece hole
located on top of her head. I do not know the age of this piece so I'm
conservatively labeling it as a replica. Honesty is the best policy. Makes an
interesting oddities cabinet collectible or oddity gift. A great conversation
piece!
❁ Dimensions: approx.: 6" x 3'' x 3" (height x width v depth). Weight: 9 oz.
❁ Condition: Marvelous condition. No visible cracks or breaks. I've scoured
the internet and haven't found any as nice as this one.
Please keep in mind that this is a used item. It may have nicks, scratches,
imperfections, etc. Please review photos carefully and read the full item
description before purchasing.
ⓘ Did You know?
Central America is an ancient home of the ocarina, where it has been crafted
and played for more than 4,500 years. Ocarinas were an integral part of the
musical traditions of cultures from Mexico through the Andes until European
colonization. Fashioned from clay into an array of intricate shapes and complex
designs, these ocarinas reflect both expert craft and age-old belief. Today,
their form and sounds continue to inspire invention and capture the modern
imagination.
